One of Figaro's favorite things to do is make new friends. She loves to learn about new people, and they always teach her new things. Some of her favorite friends are her paper friends; they only live in paper and books and stories, and she can't see them very often, but they always have the most exciting stories, and they always teach her the best things. Today, Figaro met two new people: Sam and Frodo. They're from a land called Middle Earth, where magic and wizards and elves and dwarves exist. Frodo and Sam are called Hobbits, which means that they're small like Figaro! Figaro met them while hanging out on her favorite lookout rock. Frodo was having a rough day, and Sam was making him dinner (potatoes). Figaro learned that they had been traveling with seven other friends, but they had to split up. Figaro made a new friend! She's a cleric and a mage. A cleric is type of religious leader. A mage is a person who has learned how to use magic. Figaro's new friend is only half formed, so she doesn't have a name or any specific powers yet. Figaro doesn't mind; she thinks it's fun watching her friends learn how to do new things! But she does hope her new friend gets a name soon. She feels a little weird just calling her "my new mage friend." Figaro also learned about things called Rubik's Cube. It's a type of puzzle. The goal is to twist and turn it until each side has only one color on it. To some people, it's small enough to hold in their hands, but to Figaro and her new mage friend, it's a good sized lookout perch.
